Embracing Sustainable Freedom: Solarboat.hub
"In just 60 minutes, the sun delivers enough energy to the Earth to meet all of humanity's needs for an entire year—every car, every household, every factory, and every device we rely on. The sheer scale of this energy is staggering and reminds us of the untapped potential of renewable resources. Does that change how you think about energy?"
At Solarboat.hub, this quote perfectly encapsulates our vision and mission. The reason for SolarBoatHub is a deep fascination for the limitless potential of solar energy and a burning desire to redefine how we experience life on the water. It is a journey rooted in innovation, sustainability, and the belief that solar-powered boats are not just the future—they are reality.
Solarboat.hub was created as a platform to empower individuals, companies, and charter businesses to explore solar-electric boating and experience its benefits firsthand.
The Electric Experience: A Glimpse into the Future
In the summer of 2023, we were part of the "Electric Experience Event on the Water" in cooperation with eFoil Riders—an unforgettable two-day celebration of what’s possible with solar-electric technology. The event captured the essence of Solarboat.hub: combining sustainability with innovation and fun.
The SILENT yacht (visible in the images) served as the central hub of the event—a floating, solar-powered island. Over the course of two days, more than 150 guests experienced firsthand how a solar yacht can support an entire ecosystem of activities without burning a single drop of diesel.
From early morning to late evening, the yacht was a hive of activity:
Energy Production & Usage: The solar panels powered everything on board, from watermakers producing drinkable water to electric pumps inflating the floating platforms. Batteries for electric surfboards, foil boards, a drone, cameras, smartphones, and the two dinghy batteries were recharged—some of them even several times—ensuring all activities remained seamlessly powered.
Comfort & Entertainment: Guests enjoyed freshly baked croissants, cold drinks, and continuous music as they explored the bay and returned to the yacht for refreshments, relaxation, or a warm shower.
Despite less-than-perfect weather conditions, the diesel generator wasn’t needed at all, highlighting the incredible potential of solar-electric boating and leaving guests in awe of what renewable energy can achieve.
A Floating Playground
The SILENT yacht became more than just a boat during the event—it was an autonomous playground on the water. Guests lounged on inflatable platforms, rode electric water toys, and marveled at how seamlessly everything functioned. The yacht’s solar panels turned it into a self-sustaining island, providing energy, comfort, and connectivity without compromising the environment.
The event was more than a demonstration; it was a glimpse into a sustainable lifestyle powered by the sun. One guest remarked, “It felt like being on a self-sustaining island, where everything we needed was provided by the sun. It was incredible to see how seamlessly it all worked.” The joy, excitement, and curiosity of the attendees confirmed what was already clear: solar-electric yachts are the key to a greener, more independent way of life on the water.
